Does anyone else here watch The Amazing Race? If so, you will totally understand this rant:
The Weaver family is a walking/talking billboard for the reason I became an Agnostic many years ago. After being raised 'Christian' (we were of the Pentacostal variety) for my first 17 years and being extremely 'into' church, I abruptly stopped going after a PIVOTAL surmon givin by, basically, the preacher I had grown up with. It hit me in the forehead what total HYPOCRITES 75% of Christians are (or, at least in my church it was 75%.)
*Say one thing, do another.
*Hate others for their shortcomings, while turning a blind eye to your own.
*Praying like ape-fuck for shit that God (or whomever) could really give a crap about.
*Saying the ONLY reason no one likes you is because you're 'Christian'? Sorry babe...only Jews and Muslims have the right to say that (IMHO.)
It is a wonder that many (good) Christians get a bad rap...this family is the epitome of righteous delusion. It is truly people like this that make me believe that 'relgion' is just an excuse for claiming to be better than any and everyone else. (I respect all religions alike: just remember that your god is just that: YOUR god. So stop trying to condescend {<---is that the word I'm looking for?} to me with your belief that you are better then I am because of the god you choose!) While they are out there spewing their gack on others, I suggest that when they get home they do 3 things. 1) Read the entire Bible; 2) Read the entire Bilbe again; 3) Have I mentioned 'Read the entire Bible, again'?
PS...I am the most un-religious person I know, but even I am spiritual enough to have taken a moment at the church to say a prayer to the Goddess above.
PPS...(Said directly to the Weavers, because they need to hear it:) Did you know that if Christ were alive today he wouldn't even be a Christian?
(I wish to God I could think of where I heard this, but I will say 'George Carlin' until I am proven wrong *weg*)
Later, Taters!
